More Firsts (and a 3rd)

There's a lot going on for the California Deans. Luckily, the camera is always close by...

Jay and Karen celebrated their 3rd (!) wedding anniversary on August 17th with dinner and a movie. Karen rocked the town in her brand new "jeggings." Needless to say, Jay was very excited to be seen in public with her. Special thanks to "Auntie" Dara for once again taking the babysitting reins.

Lucas is back to school with his girlfriend Phoebe and he is making new friends with Braydon and Morgan(not pictured) who were both born in May. All four of the kids are in good hands with Elvira and Delmey who love those kids so much and take such good care of them.

Just this week, Lucas wore his AFO's (Ankle-Foot Orthodics) along with his brand new Stride Rite sneakers. Yes, it's true! Lucas is wearing real shoes for the first time. He looks psyched about it, too, huh?

Lucas continues to try all kinds of solid foods like apricots, carrots, prunes, and even tofu(such an LA kid)! He is trying to chew them with the two bottom teeth that have started to sprout. Here he is enjoying some water from his brand new sippy cup...YES, it's water, not vodka, even though his eyes are looking a little bloodshot. Looks like it's your bedtime tired boy!

Local Produce!

Like Brian, Kristy and Ingrid, the Dean family has signed up for vegetable/fruit/herb deliver from a company called Abundant Harvest. A small bin of locally grown, organic produce is delivered to Crossroads School every week for Jay to pick up and bring home. Here is what our first shipment looks like. We feel pretty encouraged that everything in the box was familiar to us!

Back in the Rhythm!

Not that we didn't have a good time on vacation in both MN and MA, but seriously. . .Lucas has decided, on his own terms of course, that he wants to take 2 hour morning naps every day since we returned home to sunny California. He is a changed boy at 6+ months old. In the past 10 days, we have had lots of activity. Lucas has had all his medical check ups, which have gone very smoothly. . .not much to report other than he is 13 lbs 7 oz, 24 inches long, and happy and healthy. The most common comments we get about him, besides looking like Macaulay Culkin, is "he's so cute!" As if we didn't know that already:)

Auntie Dara has gotten some good face time with him. She even got him to nap in the afternoon for almost 2 hours. Come back ANY TIME Dara!

We've also made our return to Toddle Tunes where he honed his skills on the cello, we've reunited with our friends and their babies for playdates, and today we are off to the beach for the afternoon. Jay is back to work and Karen has been spending her time pureeing homemade baby food.

Today's menu: plums and brown rice for breakfast; green beans and millet for dinner. YUM!
