Ahh, Spring Break!!!

Jay's now on Spring Break for two weeks and able to spend some time at home with Karen and the baby. The first weekend was a blast as Lucas went to his first BBQ, had his first outing to a public park, and spent millions of hours in the bouncy seat and play mat (as you'll see in the picture below, he loves looking at himself in the mirror.) You also may want to know that Lucas survived his first round of vaccination shots at Dr. Sachs' office (note: Lucas now weighs in at a hefty 9 lbs. 4 oz.) He also watched March Madness with Daddy, though he was upset about Syracuse losing in the Sweet Sixteen. We all look forward to Grandma and Grandpa Dean's arrival on Thursday.

And some other Big News: Lucas is now the proud older cousin to Ingrid Lee Rolig, born on March 27th to Uncle Brian and Auntie Kristy. He can't wait to meet her this summer. See how excited he is?

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Lucas! You are 8 weeks old today! After a long night on Wednesday, Lucas got himself together for a very fun afternoon yesterday with a lot of interactive time. For a good hour or so he played on his activity mat both on his tummy and on his back. He was so exhausted by the end of the night, Lucas fell asleep on daddy's lap before going down for the night. Did I mention he was exhausted. . .Lucas was in his crib at 7:30 only to awake for his first feeding at
4 am. Mom and Dad sure appreciated that! We're off to a good weekend and looking forward to watching the LA Marathon come through our neighborhood on Sunday!

Happy Time!

After a debacle of a trip down to the Venice boardwalk for a stroller ride with other new mommies, Lucas redeemed himself this afternoon during an hour long playtime in the bed, bouncy seat, and activity mat.

More Daylight!

So, we woke up to a beautiful Sunday morning and with the knowledge that it'll stay lighter later into the day (more of a chance for afternoon stroller rides through Brentwood!). We made an attempt to stroll him down to the Farmer's Market this morning, and though we didn't quite make it that far, we had a nice jaunt through our neighborhood; and, more importantly, we got to stop at Starbucks (did I mention we're sleep deprived?).

Since the last post- sorry it took us so long, Jessica- Lucas has been playing on the Boppy with his animals (see below), discovered his tongue, smiled for the first time (we're pretty sure it was real), and fell in love with the "football hold," which is second only to running water as the fail-safe way of settling him down.

The football hold, as demonstrated by "Mommy":

We've now been parents on our own for two weeks and things are going great so far. MVP goes to Karen for her brilliant work as a stay at home mom. Jay has no idea how she does that. I think Karen has no idea how she does it sometimes either. Luckily, we were already able to go out on our first date last week! "Auntie Dara" and her good friend Lindsay became Lucas' first non-Grandparent babysitters (pictures below). Jay and Karen were a little anxious to leave him, but a mid-dinner cell phone photo from Dara alleviated all fears. Jay actually completely forgot about Lucas while eating his Flintstone-sized rib eye, "the best steak I've ever had."

Two more weeks until Spring Break! Can't get here soon enough! Bye for now, but first the bonus photo of the week, "Bathtime."
