We arrived in Minnesota on Thursday afternoon to mark the official start of our summer vacation. We'll spend three weeks here and then another 10 days or so in Mattapoisett. We know everyone will want a piece of little Lucas Dean and, of course, he'll be into everyone too. This morning, when we woke up, Lucas begged us to let him write a letter to Uncle Greg about his trip so far...
Dear Uncle Greg,
I survived my first ever plane trip! Mommy fed me during take off and landing and once in between. The rest of the time Mommy or Daddy held me and walked around the plane, and I even fell asleep in Daddy's arms for about 20 minutes. I think my parents were worried for nothing.
Grandma and Grandpa Rolig picked us up at the airport and we went to their house. Soon, we were joined by Auntie Jessica with Max, Annika, and Emerson, Uncle Brian, Auntie Kristy, and Ingrid and Auntie Carol! There were so many people to look at! I can tell I will be great friends with all of my cousins, and I had a chance to bond with little Ingrid.
Last night, there was a violent thunder and lightning storm! I had never seen one of those, but it was really cool to watch the clouds and the rain and the big flashes of light. Back home in Los Angeles there is never anything like that.
Today we are going to visit Ingrid again! Daddy and Uncle Brian are going somewhere to watch the USA game and Mommy and me will hang out with Ingrid and Auntie Kristy at their house.
Soon, we go to the cabin for the 4th of July. I hear it's pretty fun up there.
So, Uncle Greg, I can't wait to finally meet you in person instead of on Skype. I hear you are really amazing with Cousin Emily, so I look forward to you playing with me, too. I also brought a book with me that I want you to read to me. I also heard you know a lot about cities, so I want you to give me the grand tour of Mattapoisett and New Bedford. Maybe you can even wear me in the Baby Bjorn!
Love,
Lucas
Thank you Lucas! I am counting down the days to seeing you. I've reserved an unlimited pass for you on the Uncle Greg Express!! Keep having fun in Minnesota! See you soon.
