This weekend was all about Karen Dean, and for good reason...Her birthday was on Friday and then on Sunday we celebrated her very first Mother's Day! No wonder we're sitting here on Sunday afternoon totally exhausted.
Karen's parents aka Grandma and Grandpa Rolig left on Saturday morning after spending a full week with us, including Friday night when they babysat Lucas so the normally homebound Karen and Jay could get out for dinner and drinks and opening night of Iron Man 2.
Saturday night, after a day of quality family time, J, K & L went over to the apartment of friends Alex and Mike and their new daughter Phoebe. Good friends Sarah and Jeff, along with their new addition Sam, were also there. Throw in Alex and Mike's dogs Raisin and Nigel and you have a grand total of 6 adults, 3 babies, and two dogs! The babies all had great nights and were asleep by 7:30 so their parents could actually have some adult conversation.
Sunday morning, Lucas presented his Mommy with a card and a bouquet of yellow tulips and then treated her to a nice family breakfast at John O' Groats, his favorite spot. He even rallied for three quarters of the Celtics Game 4 victory over the Cavs with Mommy, Daddy and friend John at the sports bar around the corner.
Tomorrow's Monday and it's back to reality. Jay goes back to work, Karen goes back to full-time solo parenting during the day, but that's not so bad when you get to hang out with this guy...
Happy belated birthday and Mother's Day Karen! You guys look great, and what a fantastic smile & laugh from that gorgeous boy of yours. We're sending our love from Portland.
